Synopsis

Tough cop Dave Bannion takes on a politically powerful crime syndicate. The relationship between the righteous Glenn Ford and his beloved wife (Jocelyn Brando) is rendered as funny and tender, while the romantic relationship between the villainous Lee Marvin and his moll, Gloria Grahame, is poisonous from the start.

Grahame is, as she puts it, a “sister under the mink” - complicit so she can maintain a certain lifestyle. But she yearns to escape, and enlists Ford to help her.
