Starring:Tilda Swinton, Miroslav Krobot, Erika Bok
Released:Tue 03 Sep 2024
Synopsis
After witnessing a crime during his night shift as railway switchman near the docks, a man finds a briefcase full of money. While he and his wife (Tilda Swinton) step up their living standards, others start looking for the disappeared case.
An adaptation of a tightly paced crime novel by the director of Sátántango and Werckmeister Harmonies?! As described by Chris Chang in Film Comment, "The camera is quintessential Tarr: hovering in anticipation of things that won’t happen, tracking like a private eye tailing a perp, and imbuing the black-and-white image with a caustic malaise no other director comes near to achieving."
Screening as part of 'Will Heaven Fall Upon Us?' A Béla Tarr Retrospective.
