Galway Film Society Winter 2023

Galway Film Society (GFS) is delighted to announce its return to Pálás for its Winter 2023 season.

The Winter 2023 Season, which starts on Sunday November 5th and Monday November 6th, will present 6 films, representing a range of new award-winning titles from around the world.

The season will kick off with the heart-warming coming of age French drama Time To Get Away!, which is being presented with the support of the French Embassy in Ireland and the Institut Français.

Galway Film Society is also one of the Irish organisations taking part in this year’s Month of European Film between November 1st and December 9th. Participating cinemas include sites in dozens of cities from Reykjavik to Athens, from Lisbon to Bucharest.

The GFS Winter programme celebrates the fantastic diversity of European film with a number of highlights including the highly-anticipated French drama Anatomy of a Fall, winner of the top prize, the Palme d’Or, at the Cannes Film Festival 2023; the Berlin Film Festival 2023 Best Performance winner, 20,000 Species of Bees, a warm and moving Spanish gem; and the uplifting crowd-pleaser Driving Madeleine

GFS will also continue its support of emerging filmmakers by screening another 2 short films during its Winter season, and provide an important platform for new Irish talent.

The season will finish out with special Christmas screenings of the Ukrainian film Carol of the Bells, which will be accompanied by customary festive cheer!
