Remembering Roger Corman at Pálás
Cult cinema maestro Roger Corman sadly passed away last month. As a producer and director, he created hundreds of B-movies over six decades but was also a major figure in American cinema who helped launch the careers of Scorsese, Coppola, De Niro, Jack Nicholson and more. In the early days Corman’s creativity and sheer entertainment value as a director won him acclaim for films like The Little Shop of Horrors (1960), The Pit and the Pendulum (1961) and The Masque of the Red Death (1964). Later in his career, and closer to home, Corman had a huge impact on filmmaking in the West of Ireland, where he created a studio in Connemara in the mid 1990’s and produced close to twenty feature films in five years with a largely Irish crew, like Bloodfist VIII!
Join us in remembering Roger Corman with a double-bill of the documentary It Came from Connemara! and Galway-made cult classic, Bloodfist VIII on June 19th.
Then on June 26th, enjoy an early Corman classic starring Vincent Price, The Pit and the Pendulum. Pre-booking is advised.
