Synopsis
Gotta dance!
Cinephile Paradiso presents Singin’ in the Rain, Stanley Donen and Gene Kelly’s 1952 musical masterpiece that depicts Hollywood's transition from silent to sound films in the late 1920s.
Silent movie stars', Don Lockwood (Gene Kelly) and Lina Lamont, face a major dilemma as 1920s Hollywood is on the brink of transitioning from silent to sound. When their latest movie is made into a musical only Don can carry a tune… Enter Kathy Selden (Debbie Reynolds), a spunky aspiring actress hired to lend her voice to Lina's lacklustre singing. With his quick-witted pal Cosmo Brown (Donald O'Connor) by his side, Don must dance his way through the challenges of fame, romance, and the birth of talkies.
Singin’ in the Rain is considered the best Hollywood musical of all time.
Cinephile Paradiso is a monthly event that celebrates classic cinema on the big screen. Post-screening meet-ups take place in Pálás bar to encourage discussion of the film, what it means, and how it has this changed over time.
